Travelers to the Kingdom Swaziland in Africa may wish to plan at least a week for their visit to fully appreciate the slow pace and various natural and cultural experiences of the area. The small country, ruled by an executive king, offers wildlife viewing, walking trails with exceptional scenery, rafting adventures, and other opportunities. The Umhlanga Festival, one of the largest cultural events in Africa, takes place in Swaziland in the winter months. To reach Swaziland by airplane, one must fly from Johannesburg in South Africa via Swaziland Airlink. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes and ends at the King Mswati airport. Other possibilities to enter the country include taking a bus from Johannesburg through Skyworld or TranMagnific or driving across the border where a fee of R50 will cover entry. The border offices will also accept South African rand, but have no exchange bureaus.
